Obligations of the Process Participants

To ensure ethical conduct by all participants in the publishing process, Professional Art Education sets out the following obligations.

Authors must:

  • submit original, reliable results of their own research and properly cite the work of others;
  • avoid plagiarism and self-plagiarism; guarantee that the article has not been published before and is not under consideration elsewhere;
  • list as authors all those, and only those, who made a substantial contribution to the research;
  • disclose funding, conflicts of interest and the use of AI (see AI Usage Policy);
  • respond to reviewers’ comments and inform the editors of any errors found in a submitted or published article.

Editors must:

  • evaluate manuscripts solely on their scholarly content, treat authors respectfully and impartially, and keep manuscripts confidential;
  • engage objective and competent reviewers and ensure double-blind peer review;
  • agree the final text with the author after copyediting;
  • not accept for publication manuscripts that lack scholarly value, are outside the journal’s scope, contain plagiarism or have already been published;
  • respond to reports of misconduct in accordance with the Complaints Review Procedure.

Reviewers must:

  • meet the review deadlines or decline in good time;
  • treat the manuscript as a confidential document, not share it with third parties and not upload it to publicly available AI services;
  • not use unpublished data from the manuscript;
  • provide an objective, reasoned and courteous assessment and inform the editors of any overlap with other publications.

Conflicts of interest

  • Authors, editors and reviewers disclose any financial, personal, professional or other interests that could influence the assessment of a manuscript.
  • An editor or reviewer who has a conflict of interest with an author (collaboration, supervision, competition, family or employment ties) declines to handle the manuscript, and the editors appoint someone else.
  • Manuscripts by the Editor-in-Chief and editorial board members are peer reviewed on the same terms; decisions on them are made by another board member.
  • If an undisclosed conflict of interest is discovered after publication, the editors publish a correction or follow the retraction procedure.
