Abstract

Purpose: taking into account the requirements of documents governing the assessment of vocational education outcomes, to specify the requirements regarding the autonomy and responsibility of arts education students and to identify directions for developing the autonomy and responsibility of these future professionals during the study of specialized disciplines.

Scientific novelty: defining directions for developing the autonomy and responsibility of future fine arts professionals during the study of specialized disciplines: organizing purposeful work to foster students' understanding of the essence of responsibility, the alignment between autonomy and responsibility, and the anticipation of the consequences of their actions; orienting the activities of art students toward mastering the experience of independent learning; and engaging students in project-based or creative activities.

Results: the systematic demonstration of independence by future visual arts specialists when developing an artwork's concept — manifested through tasks involving the creation of an original artistic image (using a specific style or technique, or emulating the style of a professional artist or folk artisan) and tasks requiring the rendering of an artist's existing image in one's own manner — is accompanied by the ability to take responsibility for presenting one's own artistic style in alignment with the educational program's requirements.

A sufficient level of autonomy and responsibility positively influences the quality of the subsequent professional work of visual arts specialists, enabling them to compete within market conditions while respecting social norms and drawing upon the ability to find meaning in their own existence.

Conclusions: specifying the learning outcomes for future fine arts professionals through the lens of autonomy and responsibility — based on a detailed analysis of general and specialized competencies — creates the conditions for high-quality professional development and the shaping of an artist capable of bringing artistic visions to life not only through classical theories but also by taking into account social changes and labor market demands.
