The purpose of the study: to systematize pianist preparation for work with a vocalist and choir by identifying its common components, context-specific modes of their realization, and skills that require specialized development.
Methods: the study employs theoretical analysis and generalization of scholarly approaches, as well as comparative and structural-functional analysis of professional skills in terms of objects of attention and auditory control, sources of information, modes of action, and functional outcomes.
Scientific novelty: a structural and functional systematization of pianist preparation is proposed in which the structural dimension is represented through the relationship among a common professional core, context-modified realization, and specific skills, while the functional dimension is revealed through the interrelation of the object of attention, source of information, pianist’s mode of action, and expected outcome. The criterion for distinguishing contextual modification from specialization is clarified: specialization arises when professional operations require additional, purposefully designed preparation.
Results: a common core of collaborative piano preparation has been identified, comprising auditory-coordination, interpretative-textual, technical-operational, and communicative components. The same professional skills are shown to be realized through different modes of action in work with a vocalist and choir, depending on the structure of partnership, available sources of information, and the professional task. Specialized operations characteristic of choral practice are outlined.
Conclusions: systematic collaborative piano preparation is achieved by combining a common professional foundation with variable modes of its realization and the specialized development of skills required by a particular performance context.
