Abstract

The professional training of future actors in higher arts education institutions involves the development of speech competencies required to ensure standard pronunciation under varying levels of psychological, physical, and vocal stress during stage performance. One of the key components of an actor’s professional competence is the ability to consistently maintain orthoepic norms regardless of speech tempo, the intensity of stage action, or emotional tension.

The purpose of the article is to theoretically substantiate a model for the formation of future actors’ orthoepic stability in the process of stage speech training.

Methods. The study employed the methods of theoretical analysis and generalization of scientific literature on stage speech, actor training, voice pedagogy, and arts education. Pedagogical modeling, structural-functional analysis, and systematization were applied to develop a structural-functional model for the formation of orthoepic stability.

The scientific novelty of the study lies in the theoretical substantiation of the concept of “orthoepic stability” as an integrated professional quality of a future actor, reflecting the ability to maintain standard pronunciation under stage performance conditions, as well as in the development of a structural-functional model for its formation, including the corresponding criteria, indicators, and levels of achievement.

Results. The essence of the concept of “orthoepic stability” as an integrated professional quality of an actor has been clarified. It is defined as the ability to maintain standard pronunciation, articulatory accuracy, and phonetic expressiveness regardless of changes in emotional state, speech tempo, or stage conditions. The proposed model comprises four interconnected components: target, theoretical-content, procedural-technological, and diagnostic-performance. The pedagogical conditions for implementing the model are substantiated, including the systematic development of speech breathing, improvement of articulatory coordination, development of tempo-rhythmic flexibility, and integration of technical speech training with emotional and psychological preparation. In addition, a system of criteria and indicators for assessing the level of orthoepic stability, as well as a sequence of progressively more complex training tasks aimed at developing stable professional speech skills, has been proposed.

Conclusions. The formation of orthoepic stability should be regarded as an essential component of the professional training of future actors. The proposed model provides a theoretical framework for improving stage speech training by focusing not only on the acquisition of orthoepic norms but also on the ability to consistently maintain them under complex stage conditions. The research findings may be applied in higher arts education institutions in teaching the disciplines “Stage Speech”, “Acting”, and “Speech Technique for Actors”, as well as in the individual professional training of performers.
